In a Pasture At His Home At Ben Lomond, ARK- Has Two Daughters Here

News of the death of Maj. S.R. Meredith, of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, was received by relatives in this city Tuesday afternoon. From the information received Maj. Meredith had gone out into a pasture near his home and when he failed to return a search was made for him, and the body was found in the pasture. It is thought he was killed by a Holstein bull, but it is not positively known. Maj. Meredith was one of the most prominent citizens of that section of Arkansas, having resided at Washington for a number of years, but moved to Ben Lomond about twelve or fifteen years ago. He was about 72 years of age, and is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. Both of his daughters, Mesdames E.E. Cochran and Hose C. Perkins, reside in this city, as does also one grandson, Sam Meredith. Judge and Mrs E.E. Cochran, Mr and Mrs H.C. Perkins and Sam Meredith left this morning to attend the funeral, which will be held at Ben Lomond Thursday. The Gazette joins the many friends of the bereaved family in extending sincere sympathy to them in the loss of their loved one.
