Mother- Mary A Schoggin

Mother, Mary A Schoggin
Come to Live With Jesus

Mother Dear has left us here
And although it is his will
A vacant place is in our home
That no one can ever fill.

But I trust to God that some sweet day
I will clasp her by the hand
And we will all again be glad
Over in the Glory Land

My home on Earth is a lonely place
For she now sleeps in her new made grave
For no more do I see Dear Mother's face
And lonely cedar trees over her wave

Mother was laid to rest by Father's side
and we will see her here no more
She is sleeping with little brothers three
who have long gone on before.

Three of us are left to wait God's call
And he will carry us safely home
If we will only believe in him
who died to save us all

Where we will have to part no more
But will all be happy there.
In God's blessed Glory Land
For this is my daily prayer

Oh won't that be sweet to meet mother
in that great home up above
There we will all sit at Jesus' feet
in peace and joy and love

For if we live a Christian life
as down on Earth we wait
we will gain eternal live
and meet at the Golden Gate.

---Eller Fitzhugh

Eller wrote this eulogy poem for her mother's funeral.
Her mother was Mary Angeline Huff, wife of James E. Schoggin, and daughter of Wyatt and Tabitha G. Phillips Huff.
Mary Angeline was born in 1856 and died on November 11, 1923.  She is buried in Phillips Cemetery in Hot Spring County Arkansas.
The three brothers mentioned in the poem were Eller's siblings- Edward, Auston and one unnamed brother.  The three left to carry on were Eller, Missie Etta and Malissa.  Eller's husband was James E. Schoggin and he passed on February 4, 1890.

Enjoyed this, Southwest. Eller did a good job with his mother's eulogy.
